THIS PAGE IS A MUST READ AND AGREE PAGE BEFORE PURCHASING A PUPPY FROM PRETTY PAWS PUPPIES!
I definitely believe in Health Guarantees on puppies and refuse to place a puppy without one. But I feel a health guarantee should not only protect the puppy buyer...it should protect the puppy as well. And if you purchase a puppy from Pretty Paw Puppies, both Puppy Buyer and Seller MUST agree to and sign a Health Guarantee Contract. I know a lot of people, myself included, find contracts to sometimes be confusing because they make statements without elaboration. This page is for people who may be interested in purchasing a puppy from me to read a bit about how I do things with my puppies and why the statements on the Health Guarantee Contract are so important to everyone concerned.
Pretty Paw Puppies tries very hard to describle each puppy, showing photos of the puppy, siblings and parents. After all, there are a lot of variations in shades of brown, tan, etc and my opinion of light brown might not compare to everyone elses. I do my very best to describe color, current size and give educated guesses as to adult appearance. But I do not believe it is possible to absolutely guarantee all attributes of a puppy at a young age. So while I do my best and am generally very good at it, I DO NOT guarantee the exact appearance of my puppies.
Toy Poodle Puppy sizes vary. AKC states a toy poodle is 10" and under. Teacup, Tiny Toy, Pocket, etc are terms people use for very small toy poodles. My goal and breeding stradegy is to breed for the smaller poodle puppies. But no one can guarantee the adult size of a toy poodle puppy. I can guarantee the size of the parents and discuss past puppies they have produced. I can give an good educated guess to a puppy's probable adult size. If size is of extreme importance, especially if it's an ounce or two either way...I'd highly suggest you consider purchasing an older puppy as it's a bit easier to tell what the adult size will be older puppies. With all that said, remember, a poodle is a poodle and they are all wonderful!
All puppies are vet checked before being placed in their new homes. While I consider myself very knowledgable about my breeds and their health care and do practice preventive medicine; I do not believe a breeder can or should replace the expertise of a veteranarian. This way is just one more way I know of to insure the health of my puppies.
I require Puppy Buyers to have their new puppy vet checked by the vet of their choice within 48 hours of purchase date. I am a fanatic about this and failure to do so will void all guarantee on the puppy! So it is very important! I know the puppy is healthy because I know the parents, I know the care with which the puppy has been raised and I've had it vet checked. But it's so very important for the buyer to know they have purchased a healthy puppy and this is just one more way to insure they know it. And I certainly don't think it is requiring to much of a new puppy owner who needs a vet anyway! Should Puppy Buyers vet find the puppy to suffer from a life threatening congenital defect they are to immediately notify me and make arrangements to return the puppy along with the vet statement and the next puppy of equal value will be made available to them.
A complete health record of the puppy will be delivered to the Puppy Buyer showing all vaccination dates, wormings, feeding routine and date of vet check. This record should accompany the puppy to meet the vet at it's new home. All vaccinations and wormings are up to date for the age of each puppy.
All Pretty Paw puppies are guaranteed against any and all life threatening disease and conditions. I can not guarantee a puppy will not have 'a' worm or 'a' flea; even through each puppy receives very regular wormings and fleas are not tolerated here at Pretty Paws. But I do guarantee they will not be 'full of worms or fleas' meaning they will not be damaged by them in any way.
Reducing Stress: All puppies go under a certain amount of stress when entering a new home, the puppy buyer agrees to be prepared for this. A puppy needs to remain on the food it is accustomed to for a period of no less than 10 days before slowly adding a new food the new owner may prefer to feed. DO NOT immediately change a puppy's diet!
A Word About Coccidia-All dogs carry coccidia. It is generally self illiminating and owners see no signs of it. But under stress it can 'crack' on young puppies causing diahrea. Coccidia and Giardia are easily treated and ARE NOT a defect in a puppy! Just watch your new puppy's stool for a couple weeks after arriving in it's new home and consult your vet if you see loose stools.
Pretty Paw Puppies IS NOT responsible for any veteranarian or shipping expenses. Should the puppy be involved in an accident PLEASE attend the puppy! But don't expect to be reinbursed the expenses! I fully expect the new owner to be a responsible caring owner and take proper care of the puppy! New Puppy Buyers must be prepared for vet visits, grooming, traveling or boarding expenses, etc. Otherwise they should not get a puppy!
Puppy Buyer MUST ASSUME full responsibility of care and maintainance of the puppy at the time of purchase. Pretty Paw Puppies has no control over the puppies inviroment after leaving here and is not responsible for care, maintainance, vet bills, shipping fees, traveling and/or boarding fees, etc incurred in caring for the puppy. New puppy owners MUST BE willing to handle these espenses or they should not purchase a puppy.
Death Of A Puppy, something I hope I never have to hear of! But it's covered in my contract. If for any reason a puppy dies before the 48 hour time limit for it's vet check to check for congenital abnormalities; the puppy buyer MUST have an autopsy done at their expense. If autopsy confirms puppy's death was due to a congenital abnormality, the next available puppy of equal value will be offered to the puppy buyer.
I feel a need to explain this even further. I can no longer control a puppy's inviroment after it leaves me. A new puppy turned loose in a new home may chew electrical cords, may be dropped into a bubble bath by a young child or many other types of tragic accidents. They may also experience stress and need treatment which is so very simple to remedy but can be deadly if a minimum amount of care and attention is not given the puppy. PLEASE treat a new puppy as you would a young toddler and protect them. I'm not there and I can't, I entrust them to their new owners.
